Thanks to you, our 2021 campaign was a success

I am happy to share with you today the success of the 2021 United Way Saint John, Kings & Charlotte campaign.

I have seen first-hand and heard amazing stories of individuals and families who have had their lives transformed through the work of the United Way. It has been truly inspiring to be part of a campaign that creates such transformation.

Being two years into a global pandemic presented challenges to our region. But in true Maritime spirit, our community remained steadfast and strong. Your support of the United Way strengthens organizations and programs, helping those who need it most and creating solutions that break down barriers to brighter futures.

Thank you for showing your local love to the people of Saint John, Kings & Charlotte.

I am pleased to share the news that, through the generosity of our donors, our dedicated campaign team at United Way, and the hundreds of volunteers who support our efforts, we raised more than $1.66 million for Saint John, Kings & Charlotte. 

I am so very grateful for this level of support.

I am also pleased to share that, along with the funding announced in January to our 19 funded partners, the success of this campaign has allowed us to give five additional grants to local organizations:

• Black Lives Matter NB, in partnership with the John Howard Society, will receive $10,000 to provide a youth outreach program,
• The St. George and Area Food Bank will receive $20,000 to pilot a food security initiative,
• The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Saint John will receive $25,000 to provide a summer “Brain Gain” program in Sussex,
• The Multicultural Association of Sussex will receive an additional $10,000 to support their new language training program, and
• Big Brothers Big Sisters will receive an additional $10,000 to continue building their existing mentorship supports.
