Gifts of Securities

Donating securities, especially those with significant capital gains, is a tax efficient way to donate. The gains accrued at the time of the donation are not taxed to the donor.  The donor receives tax credit for the full fair market value of the securities donated, and the United Way receives the full value. For example, if you donate shares purchased for $500 that are now worth $5,000, you would not be taxed on the $4,500 capital gain and the United Way would receive a charitable gift for the full $5,000.  For more information, contact alexya@unitedwaysaintjohn.com.

To donate securities, please fill out the following form and submit to United Way by email.

Leadership Giving

What is a leader?

A leader is someone who connects, takes action and inspires others. Leadership donors at United Way serving Saint John, Kings and Charlotte County see those in need and extend their hand and their heart with generous gifts.

Fueled by your generosity, our Leadership Giving program forms the bedrock for our ongoing work. Every gift goes on to change the lives of thousands of people in your community, making it that much stronger.

Being A Leader Is Easy.

First, choose your level of giving.

Wills and Bequests

The United Way is the charity of choice for thousands throughout their career and into retirement. You can continue to make a difference and leave a legacy with United Way. A bequest is simple and straightforward. By including United Way in your will, you can create a lasting legacy to perpetuate your tradition of annual gifts to support your community. We are happy to work with you to determine how to optimize your gift in advance or these decisions can be made at the time of the gift, based on the community’s greatest need at that time.

Gifts of a specific cash amount or asset or a percentage of the remaining estate are popular bequest choices. Your estate receives a donation receipt for the value of your gift, providing a tax credit.
