Friends,
At United Way Saint John, Kings & Charlotte, our vision is to ignite the desire in everyone to improve lives and build strong communities. The hundreds of volunteers that work on our behalf are a testament to this vision.
Our volunteers give selflessly of their time, energy, and resources to help us build a better community. Our board members guide our organization in meeting the highest levels of excellence to our mission.
The 11 members of our Community Investment Advisory Committee ensure donations are reinvested in local charities that are making the greatest impact in creating systemic change for the people we serve. This year, we are delighted to welcome Jessica DeLong as the new advisory committee chair.
Jessica, manager of stakeholder relations with Saint John Energy, has been a true partner, supporter and workplace volunteer with United Way for many years. She has been on the advisory committee since 2017 and is well-positioned to step into the chair role and guide the investments that our donors entrust us with. I have learned so much in my years with the United Way, which has a stellar record of making knowledgeable decisions on where our community needs social investment,” Jessica says.
“I am honoured to lead this committee of amazing community-minded individuals, who are dedicated to making sound business decisions on how to best help our community reduce generational poverty.”
Every charity relies heavily on the hearts and minds of volunteers – those who believe in a better community for all, in giving for the reward of helping others, in supporting a better future for the place they call home.
This week (April 24 to 30) is Volunteer Week, a perfect time to salute volunteers like Jessica and the hundreds of other workplace volunteers who bring the United Way spirit into offices throughout our communities. We honour all our volunteers – our board members, the people who help us with community events such as Area 506 and Songs of the City, and all those who give freely of their time and talents in support of our mission.
We salute the individuals who courageously tell their stories of triumph through United Way-funded partners – you are all vital to building a Saint John, Kings & Charlotte, a place where people are empowered to rise up to their full potential.
Thank you!
