At United Way Saint John Kings & Charlotte, we believe that everyone in every community deserves an opportunity to reach their full potential.
That’s everyone in every community.
As an organization, we believe in a world where diversity is cherished and individuality celebrated.
We’d like to take this opportunity to recognize and support our 2SLGBTQIA+ partners, colleagues, and community members.
2SLGBTQIA+ individuals come from diverse backgrounds and face unique challenges based on their race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, and more.
They have long faced systemic discrimination, marginalization and exclusion, leading to a disproportionate number experiencing poverty and economic hardship.
Discrimination and prejudice have created barriers to employment, housing, health care, education and more, placing many queer individuals at a higher risk of economic insecurity.
There has been progress compared to generations past. But much more needs to be done.
Canada is, after all, a country committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
We voice our unequivocal support for the queer community.
It is crucial that we address the issues they face and that we all work towards a society that uplifts and supports all marginalized voices.
In doing so, we’re fostering better and stronger communities. In doing so, we’re choosing harmony over division, equality over inequality and justice over injustice.
We’re choosing to live in a world where everyone belongs.
