Giving globally but helping locally

At the United Way, we have a lot to be grateful for. In my time with the organization, I have seen and felt the love and strong support of our communities. That shows up in many ways – perhaps the most tangible are donations and volunteer commitments.

We are also blessed to be working with a dedicated group of funded partners, partners that provide critical social services and support to those most in need in Saint John, Kings and Charlotte. We’re proud of our role in strengthening the non-profit sector by working with organizations regardless of whether they receive funding from us.

But with all this warmth and reward, we can’t help but feel the urgency of the growing needs of all the people who need assistance. The pandemic and now rapid increases in cost of housing and cost of living have meant that not only do more people need help but they tend to need more of it.

The team is gearing up for Nov. 28, our next broad effort to raise awareness and support.

Nov. 28 is Giving Tuesday, marking the world’s largest generosity movement. Taking place each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes.

To join in on the gift of giving on a global scale, mark Nov. 28 on your calendars. On that day, please consider supporting the United Way. You can donate that day by going online or by calling us at (506) 658-1212.

Thank you!
