January can be a time for hope and new beginnings.
But for many people in the communities we serve, it is not that. It’s another month of desperation, where hope is limited to finding a place to stay warm.
While many of us have the luxury of resolving to lose 20 pounds, others wake up every morning hungry and wondering where they might find their next meal.
At the United Way, we hold the hope that a brighter future can be in store for those who are struggling in Saint John, Kings and Charlotte. We hold the hope that, with our funded partners, we can help lift them out of poverty or difficult circumstances.
We can only do that with your support. Our annual campaign is hurtling toward its close at the end of February. If you have not had the opportunity to give, you can donate through our website or by calling us at (506) 658-1212.
It is no exaggeration to say that the need is greater than ever. Tragedy and despair have played out in our streets and in the headlines. The after effects of the pandemic and the pain of inflation have pulled more people into despair and deepened the difficulties for those who were already there.
On their behalf, we are grateful for your support.
