Campaign off to a strong support

Friends,

More than 400 people attended our campaign kickoff this month, a resounding show of local love and an inspiring start to our fundraising efforts.

As we heard heartwarming stories from young people whose lives have been deeply influenced by programs we help fund, the audience heard that several companies were stepping forward to donate to our campaign for the first time.

Greenfoot Energy Solutions pledged $10,000 to the campaign, while OSO Hotwater pledged another $5,000.

And Cynthia Goodwin of CC Goodwin Consultants announced her firm was doubling its contribution to our campaign to $10,000. Plus – in keeping with the footprint of where her staff work, the firm is contributing another $5,000 each to United Way Central NB and United Way Halifax.

“I’d love to see others join us. Let’s show the people in our community that they matter, that we believe in them, and that we are committed to giving them the opportunity to live their best lives,” said Cynthia, who is the newly appointed vice-chair of United Way Maritimes.

“I hope you will also consider increasing your giving this year or giving to United Way for the first time.  Because we are Stronger Together and United for Impact,” she said, closing with the campaign slogan.

Campaign chair Ryan Mitchell revealed that the campaign goal for the year is $1.7 million.

“Our community needs our support, and I know that as we unite, we can provide the help our community needs to be strong, healthy and resilient,” said Ryan, who is CEO of Saint John Energy, the top corporate donor to United Way last year.

“Together with your support, we are creating a future where poverty is no longer a barrier to opportunity.”

As the event wrapped up, one donor walked up to Ryan with a pledge for $10,000.

We truly are stronger together and united for impact.

Sincerely,
