Dale’s story: Life-changing support

Tom Clarkson will never forget Charlotte Dial-A-Ride.

His mother, Dale MacCoubrey, has multiple sclerosis and uses a motorized wheelchair. Although she lived most of her life in New Brunswick, she had moved to Nova Scotia but she eventually moved back to live at Lincourt Manor in St. Stephen.

She wanted to move to Shannex in Quispamsis to be closer to her family. Her opportunity came suddenly – she was told on a Saturday evening that she needed to be at Shannex by Tuesday.

Tom called Charlotte Dial-A-Ride on Monday, knowing that it had a van that allows for wheelchair access and was relieved that the people there could help.

“I can not thank them enough for their invaluable service to the community. For low-income people with disabilities, their EV1 van is absolutely life changing,” Tom says. “I recommend the amazing service they provide to the community.”

And we thank our amazing donors, whose gifts help Charlotte Dial-A-Ride and so many other life-changing services in Saint John, Kings and Charlotte.
