Kayla’s Story: Climbing out of crippling social anxiety

Before learning about the Saint John Women’s Empowerment Network, Kayla Black lived with severe social anxiety.

Then she signed up for the Self-Esteem and Power Up programs offered by the network.

“I have really noticed a change in myself. I have come out of my shell a lot and I am more assertive,” Kayla says.

“I am now more confident than I’ve ever been. I am more comfortable speaking in front of people. I’ve also been able to set clear goals and I’m accomplishing one after the other,” she says.

“I look forward to my future.”

As a United Way funded partner, the Saint John Women’s Empowerment Network is able to help people like Kayla forge a better future for themselves. Help ensure it can continue its work by donating to the United Way today.
