- 1 in 4 children are not adequately prepared to succeed in a school environment when they enter grade 1.
- 7 in 10 youth aged 15 to 17 experience some form of bullying each year.
- 30% of youth report having issues with mental health or substance use.
How you’re helping kids succeed with United Way
United Way brings together local experts and community members, advocating for enhanced supports and systemic change, and investing in local programs and services, we’re heling kids realize a brighter future.
Here are a few examples of how we enabled youth success in 2023/2024:
- 34 youth with a mobility disability were supported to pursue education, training or employment
- 428 kids benefited from a mentoring relationship
- 1216 parents and kids improved their social and emotional skills
- 13 youth obtained their adult high school diploma
- 115 children in Charlotte County improved academics through tutoring, summer and afterschool programs
- 1827 youth participated in afterschool and summer programs
- 249 youth had support to complete high school and move onto education and employment
- 333 youth built resiliency through a daily orchestral program
